At RATS, mixed-age youth (generally ages 8 to 14) are instructed in
a wide variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, football, soccer, volleyball, badminton and alternative/cooperative
games. The program includes regular talks about the importance of good nutrition and exercise.
The RATS summer
program is conducted by experienced adult staff and several part-time paid youth workers. There is also a Counselor-In-Training
program for youth entering 9th and 10th grade to learn leadership and job skills that can be useful at other agencies.
We are committed to diversity on every level, and our participants come from different cultural, ethnic, racial, religious,
educational, and economic backgrounds. Although our weekly fees are moderate compared to other programs, some families cannot
afford to pay the full program fee. To the extent possible, we offer financial assistance to families
who might not otherwise be able to participate.
